Retainer Desk

After a first job has gone well, we can stay and operate parts of the business from behind the scenes: follow-through, online admin, and the work that would otherwise need another person.

Retainer Desk is not where we start. It opens after a Business Review, Growth Sprint, Ops Cleanup, or Inbox & Workflow has finished and you want us operating in the background.

When it fits

  • A Business Review, Growth Sprint, Ops Cleanup, or Inbox & Workflow has been completed.
  • You want the same owners in the review, not a handoff to a bench you have not met.
  • You can keep the change load at one live thread.
  • You want a kill date, not a fuzzy forever.

When it does not

  • You have not done a first package with us.
  • You want unlimited projects under one monthly label.
  • You want us to become unnamed staff for the whole company.

What you leave with

We do not open a retainer so you can skip the business review.

  • A written scope for what the desk will and will not hold.
  • A review cadence agreed up front.
  • One active thread at a time, unless you explicitly raise the change load.
  • A way to end it without a speech.

How this package runs

  1. 01

Check that a first package actually landed

If the first engagement stalled, the retainer is the wrong medicine. We go back to the limiter.

  2. 02

    Name the desk’s job

Decisions, the review, and the next small move. Not a blank cheque for new projects.

  3. 03

Set the cadence and the cap

How often we look, what “done this cycle” means, and the rule that a second thread waits.

  4. 04

Keep a stop on the calendar

Each cycle can continue, narrow, or end. The retainer is not a lock-in story.

What we need from you

  • Which package just finished, and what changed because of it.
  • The single thread you want held.
  • Who still makes the decision when we disagree.

After this package

The desk continues only while the constraint it was hired for is still the right one. If that changes, we stop and look again instead of filling the month.

Fee and calendar are agreed in writing before work starts. This page is not a quote and not a promise of a financial result.
